The Employee of the Month, and The Next One, and The Next One…, 2024
“The Employee of the Month, and The Next One, and The Next One…(2024)” is a participatory work featuring Manuela The Dealer (artist Anahí González) and Willie The Goose (a Canadian goose piñata), engaging at an office desk in the center of the gallery. González's performance critiques labor conditions through a hemispheric lens using humor and irony. The artist will interact with visitors, inviting them to choose the “best opportunity” from a catalogue, much like an auto dealer. This catalogue includes scenarios highlighting the impact of Canadian imperialism in Mexico across various industries such as mining, seasonal worker programs, eco-tourism, and automotive manufacturing.
