Entre Photo y Photo, The Truth Se Asoma
a series of portraits inspired by the stories of mexican women immigrants in Canada, the series uses spaninglish and portray them in temporary spaces. I use colour canvas in her portraits to represent their heritage.
Social media impacts the adaptation of migrants in host countries and the ability to maintain relationships back home. Studies have shown the importance of women’s role in passing on the cultural heritage to the second-generation. I acknowledge this as a bridge for cultures and I use social media to arrange meetings with them, learn about their lives and analyze how these platforms give these women a voice to share their new life and blend two cultures.
